Who is Monday?

Most people dread Monday's, the beginning of a long work week so far away from the weekend. But today I want you to look at Monday's in a whole different light, a new beginning if you will.

What you do on a Monday can effect your whole week, maybe even year. Monday's allow enough time to plan for the weekend so plan wisely. For some, each Monday is another gift from above.

For those of you who want to hurry through a Monday let me tell you a story about Sean. Sean was a young man diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. He went through numerous treatments and was drained of energy most of the time. Sean had two young children Markus and Matthew. For years now, Sean had been taking Markus and Matthew to the local YMCA each Monday to play basketball... father/son bonding time. It has become increasingly more difficult to do this once simple venture.. so much so, that they abruptly stopped last Monday.

Last Monday Sean was hospitalized and not doing very well. As Sean lay there in his hospital bed he thought about the previous Monday and his time with his two boys. What I would give to have another Monday with my boys, he thought.

It was now Thursday and Sean's condition is worsening. Markus and Matthew brought cards, games and pictures into their father's hospital room to cheer him up. Each day was precious and more valuable than the next. By Sunday, their father had passed.

Years have gone by and for Markus and Matthew Monday's are a fond memory. Either of the boy's would give anything to go back in time to a Monday filled with sweat, laughter and defeat against their mighty father in a game of basketball. Monday's will always hold a special place in their heart. That one day of the week allowed them to gain courage and strength to carry them through the rest of the week. Each weekday that passed brought forth hope for the next Monday - will that be the Monday I win against dad? For Markus and Matthew, Monday's are the beginning of hope for the rest of the week.

Be glad you have another Monday... anything is possible. Monday's symbolize a beginning. Create your new beginning on a Monday and watch how it sets the tone for the rest of the week.

Each day brings forth time.. time that passes quickly. Spend that time with or on another person and it will change their lives and without you knowing it, it will change yours too.
